Directly across from the Deep River Hospital is a nature lovers paradise.
30kms of ski and hiking trails located within a relatively small geographical area makes for a bit of a trail maze.. even with strong navigational skills and a trail map we still managed to get lost here. However don't let that stop you from getting out and enjoying this trail system because it is truly beautiful!
We set out to do the longest/most challenging trail in the recreation area - Perimeter Trail to Cranberry Lake; we succeeded with a 7kms completed over 4hours (that time should be a good indication of the difficulty level)
There is a beautiful picnic location at Cranberry Lake and the entire time we were here we didn't see any other people! Ahh, a dream hike!
If you're short on time or just want a smaller hike I recommend completing the M loop as it takes you to a quaint little waterfall pictured below.
